Kirkpatrick Jumbo Model Wire Rope Lubrication Systems
Prior to Reviewing System Information:
All Kirkpatrick Wire Rope Lubrication Systems are provided as an all-inclusive package. There is no itemized charge for each of the components listed in the Main System Package.
The Jumbo Systems’ maximum rated pumping capacity of 24 Pounds / 10.9 Kilograms per minute can keep up with faster Wire Rope Travel Speeds involving large Diameter Wire Ropes. These high flow capacities generate optimal pressurization inside the internal Seals for the deepest possible penetration and coating of individual Wire Strands. This also provides excellent fluid film support protection against friction wear from strand rubbing.

Kirkpatrick Jumbo Wire Rope Lubrication Systems are provided in Pail, Mid-Size Drums, and Full-Size Drum Configurations:
- Model JU35: Fit for 5 Gallon (35 Pound / 15.75 Kgs.) Size Pails
- Model JU120: Fit for 15 Gallon (120 Pound / 54.43 Kgs.) Mid-Sized Drum (Keg)
- Model JU400: Fit for 55-Gallon (400 Pound / 181.44 Kgs.) Full-Sized Drum
Testimonial
US NAVY Supervisor of Salvage Evaluation of the Kirkpatrick Model JU120 Wire Rope Lubricator
Mr. Raymond Beaudreau, a civilian consultant for Military Sealift Command, requested that the USNS Papago’s rusty and kinked 2-1/4 Inch (58mm) Tow Wire be used for the cleaning operation. The Tow Wire was re-spooled at approximately 150 Feet (45 Meters) per minute through the Kirkpatrick Model JU120 Wire Rope Lubrication System.
Results: “Examined 2-¼ (58mm) Inch Tow Wire and found it scraped clean of rust and old Lubricant. New Lubricant had penetrated every visible part of the Wire Rope. The System performed well and achieved good results on the substantially degraded 2-¼ (58mm) Inch Tow Line. A job that took days was completed in a few hours.”
Historical Fact
The Kirkpatrick Model JU120 System was flown overnight to Martha’s Vineyard on July 17, 1999 by the United States Navy to be used on the Salvage Vessel USS Grasp’s 2-1/4 Inch (Towline) prior to lifting John F. Kennedy Jr’s. Airplane off of the bottom of the ocean. The main concern in the mission was that they could not risk a broken Wire Rope in the middle of the lift.
The JU120 Jumbo System gave them that added insurance. Before this project, they had integrated (172) Model JU120 Systems into the fleet.
